It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of an Oryx legend. Eric Sibiya, Moses Mabhida doorman, and employee with many years’ service, will be greatly missed. Thank you for your loyal service, Eric. May you rest in peace.

I worked with Eric Sibiya for 8 years and he used to call me “my nephew – Uyaphila kodwa Mshanami, Uyaphila kodwa udadewethu”. Eric was a great and humble man, but also down to earth. He loved to work with people and be surrounded by them. I will always remember the way he greeted people, like everyone was important to him. He called people by their surnames, which in Zulu culture is out of respect and honour. You touched a lot of people’s lives Eric Sibiya, and you will be missed dearly, Ndaba, Sibiya ngenkomo abafokazana bebiya ngamahlahla nina bakwankomo’isengelwa emaweni.
